The Apartment H&M project involves the renovation and interior design concept of a classic Viennese flat with 130m2 of living space on the Belle Etage of a turn-of-the-century building, located directly on Äußere Mariahilferstraße in Vienna's 15th district.
At the beginning of the project, the client was looking for a property with original substance worth preserving, without the mistakes of previous renovations.
The typical old building room structure was adapted to the requirements of a modern living style. The kitchen was integrated into the living area to create an additional children's room facing the courtyard. The former tiny bathroom was also integrated into the newly created children's room as a bed niche.
The former entrance area, together with a WC and a cupboard room, was converted into a spacious wellness bathroom with sauna, whereby a wall to the anteroom was dispensed with. A curtain now serves as a room divider, which can be closed if necessary. Walls, floor and washstand in the bathroom were filled and sealed with white tile adhesive. This created a homogeneous, monolithic and almost seamless room structure.
The master bedroom was also significantly enlarged and upgraded in the course of the interior planning by incorporating a small cabinet. Here, floor-to-ceiling white curtains cover entire wall areas with the built-in wardrobes behind them.
The restoration or uncovering of original cement tiles in the children's room and parts of the bedroom adds colourful accents to the otherwise plain, light-coloured concept.
The furnishing was partly done with own designs from the destilat portfolio. For the dining table, the solid wood table 4 To The Floor covered with linoleum was used. The kitchen is the Eternit kitchen Camouflage developed by destilat.
Prototypes of the Shades of 3D luminaire hang in the living room and bedroom. The tulle chandeliers above the dining table and in the children's room are a design by the client's wife.
