destilat's commentary on a popular design theme, the reinterpretation of more or less good old things. Old fabric-covered lampshades are stripped and freed from the mustiness of past decades. What remains is the supporting skeleton and a vague hint of the former shape.
While the wire frame was invisibly hidden under a fabric cover in the original version, it is now given a very exposed role in the new design, becoming an aesthetic high performer.
The fabric patterns on the shade are replaced by light and shadow patterns of the wire frames on the surrounding walls. The lampshade turns from a diffuser into a shadow caster.
