Penthouse B

Linz

Year: 2013
Status: realised
Client: Private

destilat develops an interior design concept for a penthouse on Linz's Bachlberg.

The property, in a prime forest location on the outskirts of Linz, was the home of a Linz entrepreneur in the 1970s. After standing empty for years, the house was acquired by a real estate developer. The house was extended, the three units have a size of 140-200 m2.

On the top floor is the spacious penthouse, which was planned by destilat. An open, spacious kitchen/living room with open sloping ceilings up to 6.5 metres high and a gallery were custom-designed to meet the client's needs. The centrepiece is the kitchen with its tall cabinets, a destilat creation. Just like the oak dining table, which was designed by destilat especially for the client.

Warm, coarsely textured materials were used to accentuate the sacred-looking room and create a homely atmosphere. The centre is formed by a mighty open fireplace, an archaic hearth in a reduced formal language, with a concrete base and cladding of coarse roughcast. In the upper area, there is a guest room and a gallery.
