With the New Beach in Breitenbrunn, Lake Neusiedl has gained an exciting address that is worth a visit at any time of year. The ensemble of lodges, restaurants and event halls nestles on the western shore of the steppe lake like an elongated yacht. The centerpiece of the striking architecture by Studio Hoffelner Schmid is the Libelle restaurant, which seems to float above the water with its spectacular terraces and serves relaxed fusion cuisine made from regional products.

With their clear interior design, destilat search for traces of the characteristics of the natural landscape. Thinking of the lake as a space, they allow light natural tones and horizontal lines to enter the narrow building, reflecting the reed belt, water and sky through the floor-to-ceiling window front. The pathway picks up on the symbol of the footbridge in the water - designed as an active walking zone in porcelain stoneware and contrasting with the wooden floors on which the inviting seating niches are located.

The bar, lounge, restaurant, captain's room and terraces read as a harmonious unit in the open floor plan in a stringent canon of colours and shapes, as well as independent zones characterized by individual elements: Breezeblocks - semi-transparent wooden elements with symbolized sails play with light and shadow in the restaurant, act as room dividers and clearly locate the design "by the water". In the Captain's Room, which can be flexibly partitioned off, illuminated glass blocks stylistically capture the sunset and the bar, with its cast terrazzo slab and rust-colored cement tiles, rests as a fixed anchor in the structure.

The sustainable choice of materials is based on qualities that have grown out of the cultural landscape of Burgenland. Wood, linen, wool, stoneware, ceramics, glass and wood wool panels, as well as wiped walls, whose open-pored texture tells of craftsmanship, are all ecological materials with durable surfaces that gain vitality through their use.
