New beach reception + Greisslerei

Breitenbrunn

Year: 2024
Status: realized
Client: Esterhazy Betriebe GmbH

The Neue Strand in Breitenbrunn sets real standards for sustainable vacations in Austria. In addition to the impressive camping and glamping offers and for bathers who want to cater for themselves, there is a self-service grocery store that plays all the tunes with high-quality, local specialties and everything else you need on vacation.

destilat has developed the simple, functional framework for this, which consistently continues the design language and the ecological material concept of the overall ensemble and ideally accentuates the heterogeneous range of food and drugstore goods. Circular stepped displays structure the large space and make it possible to present a wide variety of products. The refrigerated counter, bread bins and shelves are set into the wood-panelled walls and are thus elegantly discreet.

The semi-circular structured "floated panels" made of light oak not only look good, but also ensure pleasant acoustics in the busy shopping area. Large-format porcelain stoneware tiles with an exposed concrete look and a black-painted ceiling, which immerses the technology in invisible darkness, create a sense of design calm on the floor and ceiling. "Supermarket architecture must be reduced to a minimum and put the product on the pedestal. But it must organize the space and structure the shopping experience logically."
