Terrace S

Year 2015
Status: Concept Study
Client: private

destilat was commissioned to develop a concept study for the design of a rooftop terrace on a private villa in Vienna. For this purpose, the elongated, rectangular rooftop area was divided into individual areas, including a lounge area with an outdoor sofa landscape and an open fireplace, whose back was turned into roofed bar area. The rooftop terrace’s rearward and therefore more intimate area includes a wood-burning Dutchtub for enjoyable baths during the summer months as well as relaxing resting area, surrounded by lush greenery.

The zoning of the individual areas is marked with different floor coverings. The colour palette of the furniture and the used materials ranges from cool bright greys to greens, which are integrated harmoniously into the surrounding vegetation. The composition for the terrace comprises spectacular stand-alone plants, fragrant herbs right next to the bar and hedge plants to keep out the wind as well as potential onlookers. A second line of furniture adds the occasional touch of bright colour.
