Penthouse R

Vienna

Year: 2018
Status: Concept study
Client: Wiener Komfortwohnungen

With almost 280 m² of living space and 318 m² of terraces in the middle of the city, the luxurious Penthouse R by destilat offers true generosity and conveys urban elegance. The floor plan of the living area is as open and spacious as it is flooded with light. On closer inspection, it follows the logic of Wilhelminian-style room layouts, whose room boundaries dissolve into modern openness.

Two room-high, dark grey monoliths are set as central elements on an alignment line in the open space. On the one hand, these mighty pillars enclose the imposing fireplace, which connects the dining and living areas into a harmonious whole, and on the other hand, they turn out to be a library wall marking the adjacent reading area. To the side, the billiard lounge with an unobstructed view over the entire city shows how simple true luxury can be.

The following cube flanks the staircase to the roof terrace and, as a wine cabinet, forms the transition to the kitchen area. The floor-to-ceiling kitchen cabinets continue the series of stone-grey monoliths in their colouring and materiality as a logical design consequence. At the same time, they shield the master bedroom with its adjoining bathroom and terrace access from the common room.

The spacious roof terrace with outdoor kitchen, lounge areas, pool and Jacuzzi lets you dive into a world of your own, modelled on Mediterranean life in the open air. If the panoramic view did not put the capital with its landmarks omnipresent in the focus - one could quickly imagine oneself in our places of longing in the south.
