destilat showroom

Vienna

Year: 2011
Status: realised
Client: destilat

Nestled between Café Sperl and Semperdepot, the studio building of the Academy of Fine Arts, in the middle of the vibrant part of Vienna's 6th district around the Naschmarkt, we found our home base as office and showroom in Lehargasse 10 in 2010. There could hardly be a better place for destilat - the 100m2 alleyway location with its impressive five-metre room height and historic stucco ceilings offers plenty of room for development and "room to grow".

Our office and showroom once served the adjacent traditional café as a so-called "bridge room" - traces of this can be found in the colourful ceiling beams decorated with playing cards. That was in a time when the street was still called Dreihufeisengasse and the area was called "Ratzenstadel" because of its notoriously narrow paths. Today, the room structure is flooded with light and opens out onto a small square where, in the Italian manner, people like to discuss and sometimes also celebrate.

Spaces decisively define how we act - it is not for nothing that we speak of free and play space when we describe workplaces and their design potential. It does matter how the place is organised and looks where we develop projects, search for solutions and live out our creativity. Fortunately, we don't have to preach this to our clients - after all, they come to us in Lehargasse with the desire to design their offices, restaurants, shops or living spaces.
