Year: 2019
Status: Competition
Client: Mam Babyartikel GmbH

MAM Babyartikel GmbH occupies an entire office building in Vienna's 16th district, which was built as a new building with a historic courtyard wing at the turn of the millennium. destilat was commissioned with the redesign of the 1,400 m2 of usable space, which extends over six floors, in an invited competition. Starting with the cafeteria on the ground floor, which serves as a social meeting place for staff and guests, through the middle office floors to the library and meeting rooms on the top floor, the spatial structure was bathed in a light atmosphere and natural colours.
The overriding theme in destilat's design is nature - its emergence and growth and also the shelter it offers us. The interior designers thus take up the client's product range and the "miracle of nature", with which birth and "new life" have always been symbolised. The idea of naturalness is implemented in flexible "forest islands" - which serve as quiet spaces for concentrated reflection or telephone calls within the open-plan offices.
In a pink lounge furniture that spreads out like a huge flower in the library and corresponds with leaf-shaped, green seat poufs - both upholstered in soft velour. And in the striking use of wood, which is found as a material for writing and dining tables as well as in wall panels, shelves and the kitchen fronts of the cafeteria. destilat has thus created an atmosphere that radiates both inviting openness and homeliness and warmth.
